We, the three Collective Management Organizations (CMOs) namely, the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK), Kenya Association of Music Producers (KAMP) & Performers Rights Society of Kenya (PRISK) have received the long awaited SKIZA payments due to music rightsholders from Safaricom. This is following a series of 4-year long negotiations and meetings with Safaricom and other stakeholders. All artists with works on the Skiza platform are hereby requested to declare their works details and Skiza codes by either filling them online at www.digitalrights.or.ke or visiting our offices across the country. Owing to the intensity and technicality of the joint CMO operations, payment is being processed in phases and artists shall therefore be contacted once their payments are finalized. We urge all artists to bear with us in this regard as we ensure that payment is processed as efficiently as possible. We wish to take this opportunity to convey our appreciation to Kenyan artists for their support towards the CMOs as we endeavour to streamline the monetization of their works and for demonstrating patience from July 2015 when the Skiza payment was expected to be released by Safaricom. We are also grateful to Safaricom for rewarding the creative efforts of our artists and look forward to increasing the revenue to the rightsholders. We call on all other organizations to work with the CMOs in ensuring that the rightsholders are duly remunerated for the use of their works and in turn enabling the development of Kenya’s creative economy. 1. PRISK Board Chair – Robert Kamanzi 2. MCSK Board Chair – Ben Mukaisi 3. KAMP Board Chair – Justus Ngemu
